An Austin native, I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience on issues ranging from mild to severe, and specializing in depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress and self-esteem concerns.
Former clients report that I have an engaging, easy going, and laid back style with a good sense of humor that they find refreshing (especially for a psychotherapist), but that I also challenge them to think of different perspectives and examine difficult areas of their lives to help with creating change.
"Together we can face any challenges as deep as the ocean and as high as the sky."
"Pain travels through families until someone is ready to feel it."
"Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously."
I am originally from Austin and graduated from The University of Texas with a BA in Psychology. I did Masters work at the University of Houston - Clear Lake, obtained my PhD at Washington State University, and completed my training at the University of California at Davis. I worked for five years at the Counseling and Mental Health Center at UT - Austin prior to starting my current practice. I am licensed by the state of Texas to practice clinical psychology.
I began my professional career as a therapist at the Counseling & Psychological Services at UC Davis. After moving back to Austin, I continued as a therapist at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center, before moving on to starting my current private practice.
While at UT, I focused on areas that were of particular interest for me. I began as an Integrated Health Counselor and working exclusively on the medical floors with Physicians, Sports Medicine Doctors, and Nurses. In this position, I specialized in assisting those with major physical ailments, such as chronic back pain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), acid reflux and other GI symptoms, pain management, chronic migraines and headaches, fatigue, insomnia, high blood pressure, and other unexplained physical symptoms.
For my last few years there I specialized in treating eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and struggles with food as a member of the Eating Disorders Team.
I have taught college level courses in psychology and career counseling. I have conducted numerous presentations for professors and student organizations. I have also taught and supervised graduate students in their individual and group clinical training.
